Yakushima Municipal Hachiman Elementary School (5th grade)

Hachiman Elementary School’s 3rd and 4th grade students had the theme of “How do we protect the wonderful nature on Yakushima?”, experienced working as a ranger, and conducted investigative learning. Learning about the problems of marine pollution happening in the sea, and that of the overpopulation of yaku deer in the mountains, we appealed for collecting the trash and asked that venison be used in school lunch, efforts that the children thought up and undertook to solve the problems themselves. Today, we will announce the results and theme of those efforts.
