Yamanouchi Municipal Higashi Elementary School, Grade 5

The fifth graders at Yamanouchi Higashi Elementary School engaged in a year-long project to cultivate and promote Yukishiro-Mai, a locally branded rice variety. This inquiry-based activity, which included farming, marketing, and public relations, helped students better understand the value of local resources and gave them the tools to think about a sustainable future for their community.
