Yamanouchi Municipal Higashi Elementary School (4th grade)

We learned about the “kocarina,” a musical instrument born in Shiga Highland. Children who wanted to “learn to play all kinds of songs” learned to play the song “Mori no Asa” that was made especially for the kocarina, as well as songs sung at music festivals such as “Furusato.” In September, we saw the workshop where they are actually made, which made us realize, “Yamanouchi is really great to have something like the kocarina,” and by connecting repeatedly with Coordinator for International Relations Reagan from the town hall, we undertook activities to also publicize the charms of Yamanouchi.
